Department of Information Sources and Landscape Archaeology

The activities of the Department of Information Sources and Landscape Archaeology are focused on topics related to the landscape and its use as an archaeological source. The department deals with the formation and functions of the landscape in the past, settlement history in a long time and space scale and the development of methods for obtaining information about the past landscape and the natural environment. The activities of the department are specific in that, in addition to scientific work in the narrower sense, they also include systematic archaeological archiving and the creation of a basic information system of Czech archaeology in the field of field research management and data on their results. This system is registered as the Archaeological Information System of the Czech Republic (AIS CR) in the Roadmap of Large Infrastructures for Research, Experimental Development and Innovation of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and is currently beginning to be a generally shared infrastructure used by most professional institutions in the Czech Republic.
