Biography

Dr. Maria Pia Maiorano is an archaeologist specializing in the Prehistory of the Arabian Peninsula, with a focus on lithic technology and cultural change. As a researcher at the Czech Academy of Sciences, she investigates technological innovation, cultural transmission, and shifts in subsistence strategies during the Early and Middle Holocene in Arabia. Her research integrates field excavation, lithic analysis, and quantitative approaches to explore neolithization processes and long-term human adaptation in arid environments. She holds a PhD from the University of Naples “L’Orientale” and has held Humboldt Research fellowship at Goethe University Frankfurt, conducting extensive fieldwork across Oman.
