Biography

2006: Ph.D., FA Charles University, Prague, Prehistorical and Early Medieval Archaeology; since 1975 Institute of Archaeology CAS, Prague, 1995–1999 Deputy Manager of the project at Prague Castle; 2002–2017: head of the Dept. of Medieval Archaeology IA CAS; 2002–2012: editor of the Webpages of the ARÚ Prague (www.arup.cas.cz).

The topics of researches: a) the possibilities of archaeological sources on general historical issues; b) summary of the current state of study of early medieval strongholds of Central Bohemia; c) analysis of the archaeological sources of Early Mediaeval Prague Castle leading to the definition of the main phases and the topography; d) the utilisation of an interdisciplinary analysis in the archaeology; the history of the historical archaeology between two world wars.
