VITREA is a database of chemical analyses of archaeological glasses, conducted in the Czech Republic. Its aim is to make accessible the chemical data to researchers and students. The database includes glasses from the Bronze Age to the Middle Ages and post-medieval period. Besides Bohemia and Moravia, the analysed samples also come from archaeological finds in other countries - Slovakia, the Netherlands, Sweden and the Mediterranean area. Recorded are data gained by various analytical methods such as SEM-EDS and NAA. Input of data on further glass objects chemically analysed in the Czech Republic is expected.

The database and its on-line version were created with the support of the Grant Agency of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, project reg. no. IAA800020903.
