The European Research Network “Celts in Europe – Les Celtes en Europe was created for the term of four years, 2008-2011.

The project aims to establish a framework on the European scale for research on selected topics concerning the Iron Age (La Tene period). It brings together researchers from institutions and universities of five countries of Europe. PhD students will be encouraged to collaborate and contacts between further archaeological institutions established.

Two major themes are in the focus of attention:

  • Stratigraphies of structures and contexts, and their significance for establishing chronological systems;
  • Categories of artefacts and their chronological, cultural and social significance.
  • Participants from the Czech Republic will be taking part in the following workshops:
  • Typologie, technotypologie, données physico-chimiques – le cas du verre, lignite et des monnaies;
  • Caractérisation des assemblages – le cas de l´oppidum de Stradonice, Boheme.
