The themes suggested have not been treated with adequate attention in the specialized literature as yet. Our main focus are the eclosed homesteads constituting one of the key components of the internal structure of Celtic fortified agglomerations, calledoppida. The project intends to draw on the specific advantagesoffered by the site of Závist in which the clear spatial delimitation and its stratigraphy without parallels allow the elaboration of a model example of both architectural and functional emer gence of the homestead complex over a relatively long time segment. The study which is to result from the project will present the phenomenon of an élite farmstead with all its controllable aspects and will contribute to further concretization of our ideas on the hierarchization of Celtic society.
