The goal of the two-years project – the publication – consists of two parts. The first (and principal) will be devoted to the Germanic settlement at Březno, the analysis of which was the subject of two-years project GAČR 404/01/0852. Březno is up to now the only completely investigated settlement from the later Migration Period in central Europe. The size and arrangement of the inhabitation has been discussed as well as the building activities: apart of usual sunken-floored huts severel types of larger posthole-houses. The finds, especially the pottery, can be used for dating. Apart of coarseware ornamented and wheel-made vessels came to light. The second part, informing on Germanic settlements of the 6th century is being recently compiled as a grant project GAČR 404/04/0852. Most of dates on Germanic settlements appear as very fragmentary so that they can be used, above all, in terms of geographical distribution and topographical charakteritics.
