Sections: Castrum Pragense - previous volumes, List of publications - up-dated list, Monographs published by the Institute of Archaeology
This two-volume publication is devoted to one of the earliest aerial excavations targeting the environment of complex stratigraphies of pre-urban and urban Bohemia. This publication offers summary and basic evaluation of a unique file of sources (volume I) connected to the most extensive burial ground located in the historic core of Prague, on the Loretánské square. This area was used over a long period of time ranging from Early and High Medieval times to Modern Era. Its transformations mirror general phenomena and tendencies in the medieval society development. It is also worth mentioning that this burial ground was not quite continuously used for settlement activities were repeatedly intervening into this area or at least into its parts. Moreover, the publication also presents critical edition of primary and secondary field documentation (cf. plan appendix to the volume I, and complete volume II).
